Funny how the bible is the literal word of god sometimes, and a "metaphor" the next second. Christians so often insist that the bible stories (flood, creation in 6 days, etc) are all literal, and freak out if anyone suggests that perhaps they could be interpreted some other way. But as soon as you ask a question like this that they can't answer, it's "oh, well, that's just a metaphor..."
How come they'll accept certain things as a metaphor, and other they staunchly refuse can be anything but literal truth?

Revelation 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
John Gill Commentary
And the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass; denoting the preciousness and delightfulness of the saints' conversation one with another; and the purity and cleanness of it, there being no mire and filth of sin in these streets; and the sincerity and openness of it, each one walking in his uprightness; which will be seen and known of all, as clearly as anything can be beheld in a transparent glass. So the Jews say (t) of paradise, that the ground is paved with precious stones, the lustre of which may be compared to the light of burning torches.

I'm not a metallurgist but I think gold, being a soft metal, would make a very poor paving material. Moreover, since it conducts electricity, and since Heaven is in the clouds which are often heavily electrified, probably all those poor angels would get electrocuted.

Its a mans imagination of how heaven, its not true, some religious texts talk about eternal virgins, on earth they say abstain from sex, but in heaven you get virgins, if all we do in heaven is having sex, then why is sex wrong on earth? Do you really believe all this? Rivers of milk, or honey, virgins, golden roads, man can imagine heaven based on what he knows about earth, will the street lights be made of platinum studded with diamonds?

There are no streets, milk, honey, cows or bees in heaven, it is a spiritual realm. Non of the things that exists in the material world are there.

Somethings are symbolic. Heaven is a spiritual realm. It is inhabited by spiritual creatures. There are no roads as we know them.
Symbolism: the practice of representing things by symbols, or of investing things with a symbolic meaning or character.

That is just symbolic of purity. There are no literal streets in heaven those are spirit creatures. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the heavens. It also says no material things will be there.
it is a place of spiritual things.

With wings you don't need roads. Besides you would probably fall through the clouds stomping all over them. The burning questions pertains to restrooms.
