So you think the terrorists will just disarm because you pass a bill??
Terrorism is already against every international law in the books... that does not and will not stop Osama.
The only thing that can stop terrorism is FORCE.

Well first, it would NEVER EVER EVER EVER work. You can not sit back and say the military is immoral because they kill people. They kill people, but they do not murder people.
The terrorist idea, yea that's a great idea, but they will never listen. We can't get rid of the military because then there would be no defense against someone not playing by the rules, which is the whole point in the first place. And what is the point of more law enforcement if there's peace on Earth? Why can't we just order everyone to stop committing crimes? Or maybe we should let all the prisoners go as long as they promise to never do it again.

Well, who would enforce the law? There would have to be only one country, because if there were more than 1 country, and they both had a police force, those police forces WOULD be armies. Ok, lets just have one country. But some countries don't want to be part of our one country. So lets conquer them.
That's what the Romans did. That's what caused the greatest wars the world has ever known. So, your "world peace" is really WORLD WAR 3.

In all honesty....World Peace would never exist..There is no way that such a thing could be accomplished. Utopia, will never happen. Humanity has proven that, when humans first walked the earth we used clubs, crude tools, and instruments to kill animals, and I am sure..other people, as we progressed we used swords, shields, and other more modern weapons, now a days, we have guns, nuclear missles, and...RELIGON..

the law is good but that's impossible to implement. people dont follow the law anymore and unless each person on this earth achieve some form of inner peace, there'll never be peace. with regards to religion however, peace will come about by force whether they like it or not.

World Peace cannot be obtained by man. The world is full of too much hate and malice. Only love can bring about real peace

According to history, people who do not wish to disarm will not disarm, even if it makes them outlaws or outlaw nations. You would need a very big book of little rules to enforce absolute world peace. Wouldnn't your debate class rather have a little book of big rules?

isn't law enforcement kind of like military. humans are not perfect. one will always try and beat another for power. no military will allow nations to be over-run. kind of like how nuclear weapons race created a stale-mate between the US and Soviet Union. both nations would have been destroyed.
thats what's so scary about terrorists. they have no home to protect. nothing to lose. only are elimination is their goal.

It's hard to get any two people to agree
on anything.
And love and hate are just emotions.
My thoughts are this: Education, maturity
and technology are the real in-roads to
world peace.

You see the reason why war in itself exists is because it is the human expression of the power and concept of self defence. It has been given unto all creatures, at various degrees, the right and ability of self defence. We humans differ from all other creatures in this context in two aspects. One, we have a frightening degree and concept of self defence. Two, in relation to the first we have the knowledge and responsibility of moral choice.
It would be nice to be albe to pass a bill for world peace and have it obeyed. But as Caesar said to Rufio in the movie CLEOPATRA after the battle of PHARSALIUS. "And remind Anthony, tell him to keep his legions intact, they make the law legal" If we are to have world peace we will not have it by someone just passing a bill. This can be done in theory in a class but really, to actually do it in the world you have to make it work. And to make it work you, at this period in history, have to use force. These people who are engaged in wishfull thinking in class, let us introduce them to certain gentlemen in the world with their idea, I can assure you that they would very soon cease to engage in wishful thingking. The proof of the pudding is in the tasting, not in the talking.
You see, when we were learning to walk we had to spend a lot of time NOT WALKING. We crawled, fell , tripped and generally did things that were not walking to learn the way up to walk. Similiarly we learn the way of peace by NOT PEACE. We become secure, we fumble, we war, we try, we sort things out and eventually we have peace. This is the way of the world and nature. The greatest period of continuous peace in history was the PAX ROMANA. It was because peace was imposed by a great power who was actually more humane than any other ancient power. If someone says that fighting for peace is like f*****g for virginity, then remind them where virgins come from. They do not snap out of thin air. They are the result of - you know what.
Also tyranny can be imposed by stealth and deciet and other peaceful means. It is mostly war that has gotten rid of such. Peace is wonderful and I wish we didn't engage in the general idiocy of war, although some wars are justified( just ask Hitler), but self defence is given unto me for the various reasons of protection and dignity. Watch out for the people who advicate too much and too fanatical and unreasoning for peace-they may be seeking to decieve you of the former to deprive you of the latter. I, for one, will keep that which nature has given unto me. Self defence and the ability to wage war. It may in the future save us. Anyway I'll just keep it around-just in case. And if people object to that, I say, what the hell do you really want? I'll see to my safety, thank you very much. Hope this helps.
