My hair is silky some days & nappy on others. It's nappier when it's clean & silkier when it's dirty. Why is that?

could be dependent on the type of shampoos and conditioners and styling products you use. could be if you wrap your hair or sleep on a cotton pillow, could be if it is humid or dry one day. the silkyness when dirty could be due to the stuling products and oils that you use. but technically is should be smoother and and softer when just washed so it could be that the products you are using are not right for your hair

im not a professional or anything but when my hair is dirty it tends to get oily and a lot slicker. it just soft when its clean.

one moment it'll be perfect and the next there'll be fly aways everywhere and its parted wrong and its just a nightmare!!

it needs some tender loving care - decent shampoo - no colour - no heat treatment

It may be because of grease... it's kinda like gel!
