I used the stuff from the pharmacy and it didn't even kill the live ones. I also called the pediatrician , he says I can not use the stuff on her for at least a week because of her age. So now what?

I have super super thick hair. When I was in middle school, I got lice and I just could not get rid of it. I tried alot of stuff. Olive oil did not work, and was really gross. However, my hair felt really soft and conditioned afterwards. Too bad it still had bugs in it. The trick is, you HAVE to comb every single nit out of the hair. Spend hours on it every day if need be. Yes, it's monotonous, and your child will hate it, but it's the only way.

Make sure you are using the Rid, Nix, etc per package instructions. I know it says shampoo, but the medicine needs to be placed on dry hair, soak thoroughly and left on for 10 minutes, then rinsed out with water. Clean your house, car(s) well, and try to find the source of the bugs. Retreat in 7-10 days and clean house again. This can be frustrating to do twice but it's critical. Don't use Lindane as this is super strong medicine and can cause neurological problems if used too often or incorrectly. Most home remedies don't work or are a lot more trouble than using store bought medicines. Let the parents of all your child's friends know that your child has lice, some will be mad and others will appreciate the heads up to check their child.

No,olive oil does NOT work!!! You'll be making the head
lice fatter & healthier that way,but BABY OIL kills them
dead!!! Soak head & scalp in baby oil overnight with a
night cap or bonnet over your head. By morning there will
be all kinds of dead head lice. Shampoo, then use nit comb
and get out nits. Repeat with baby oil as needed & keep all
towels, clothes & bedding washed good with hot water &
plenty of soap!!!

Go to the Dr and get prescription lindane. She may be coming into contact with a source that is reinfesting her. Pack up all the stuffed animals for two weeks also. Olive oil and all those other household remedies DO NOT WORK> I have watched families struggle with this for sometimes up to a year. Repetition of treatment at 14 days is critical.

My youngest son got head lice and I had to shave most of his head and use RID almost every night for a week until it was gone. I know the directions indicate less frequent use but I was so freaked out and had to just get rid of them as soon as possible. I know with a daughter you won't want to shave her head but you may have to use the RID more often than indicated and pick the lice and nits out one by one.

tee tree oil works. apparently the lice don't like it. Also make sure you put all stuffed toys, duvas into a garbage bag for a week to suffacate the lice. if her hair is long enough, keep it tied up until the infestation pases. just be vigalent in washing and drying everything. it's a BIG pain but good luck.

there is an oil that men use in there hair that works. also if the hair is long and blond you may have to give it a trim since they like that hair. make sure you wash everything especially bedding, carpets and stuffed animals. give her room one nice clean, run stuffed animals in the washer and dryer and make sure you try to run the rid comb through her hair a every day after for about 3 days that way if you miss something you catch it. if that don't work you might need to get professional help if she is in daycare let them know someone else might be infested and she's catching it that way

Unfortunately you need soap with insecticide. Call your doctor and get the least harmful, they made one for infants. I have taught first grade for years and see them often. Olive oil and hair spray help to prevent them (not mayo) because they make it hard for the bugs to adhere to the hair because the hair is coated, but those things will not kill the bugs, sorry.

Give this poor child a break. Go to the drugstore and get the head lice killer that will work. My heart goes out to your child. What is the source?

use the RID moose and put a bag over her hair and make it tight , while it's soaking. Also, remove those eggs with a comb. I would check every day in a bright light
