Need to know How common this is in dogs. Any help thanx. I DO know what it is. The elevation in intraocular pressure occurs due to impaired outflow of aqueous humor through the iridocorneal angle. How many people have had this with their dog?

I had a dog with it at 12 years old. He was in so much pain and no vets in my area could effectively treat it.

One of my vets actually gave me a reason that he thought he developed it. My dog had a serious lung condition from running through the grove that had just been sprayed with Malathion..
The vet said it was likely caused by the impaired oxygenation to his tissues,

The first time I took him to a vet, I called and said, my dog has glaucoma, and he needs to see the vet...So, they gave me an appointment, and I took him in, and the vet said, Yes, he has glaucoma and I am unable to treat it.. Here is a name of a vet that might be able to help.....and charged me $40....Geeeesh! I was mad!

My basset hound had glaucoma. I thought she had an eye infection, she was mopey, lethargic, so I took her to the vet immediately and her intraocular pressure was quite high. She spent the night in the doggie ICU. She was discharged on several medications but they failed within a day and she had her eye removed. She is doing great with one eye, and I have maintained her on eye drops over the last 3 years. At her last vet opthamologist appt, the doctor told me there was a newer procedure that doesnt require eye removal. She also said that I had been doing a great job keeping her eye pressure good with the medications but the glaucoma may strike again regardless of how great I am with the meds.
Its expensive, but my puppy was worth it.

I have seen it with blood hounds. I had 2 for show, brother and sister. 1 got it , the other didn't. So it musn't have anything to do with genetic codes. intraocular pressure is common in basset hounds aswell.
