To forgive IS divine. It's hard for us mortals to do so.
Maybe Jesus meant those those live a good and virtuous life and don't harm others are protected by the same laws that require others to act the same...
Who knows, the whole Bible is a mystery.

If you think of the golden rule or the law of karma, you are doing things to yourself. If you live by something you die by it (and because to live is to die too, it's simply the way we live and die). It's not revenge or punishment, but simply the direct effect of one's action. Or it could be said that we perpetuate what we do, like looking at ourselves in a mirror.

Taoism teaches that children are meant to speak out agianst thier parents, if there is something the child doesnt agree with, I rather like that.
