Eat cold soft food if you eat ... A liquid diet is more common for the first couple days until swelling goes down. You don't want to put heat on an open wound like a tongue piercing, and you could get food pieces into the hole and have a hell of a time getting it out after the swelling goes down. Don't try to chew anything, you'll probably end up biting your tongue, that will hurt. Take advil or Aleve (a pain reliever) and rinse your mouth out if you do decide to try and eat tonight. Suck on ice for a little while and then try something super soft that you don't have to chew much if at all.

NO NO NO did you not listen to what the piercer said!!! Ok since that was an obvious NO the fact of what you can eat is cold stuff the first day to help the swelling stay down ad NO sucking thru a straw so you CAN EAT ice cream, milkshakes etc liquids are easier so you dont bite your tongue. on the second day you may have both cold and hot stuff you know like soup without a bunch of chunky stuff in it and other hot liquid stuff.ALSO YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR MOUTH OUTafter eating or anything where something is going in your mouth like smoking etc wash it out with like listerine to kill germs and prevent infection and limit your talking as well to help keep down swelling if you have more questions about your aftercare call the place where you got it done and ask them and may they not kill you for not paying attention

I agree with the other piercer, Spicy and acidic foods are likely to sting and irritate a new piercing, any kind of food that's likely to get caught around the bar will irritate it too so try to avoid noodles for a few days. Ice pops and ice cubes will educe swelling and the neurofen liquid sachets poured directly onto te tongue will help with any swelling or discomfort. If you smoke make sure you rinse it well after your cigarettes and try not to pull on it for a few days to avoid tearing or stretching. ENjoy your new piercing

Eat what you are comfortable with. Obviously if you try eating the sandwich and cereal and you can't you'll have to go out and get soup from a restaurant or something.
Usually people have difficulty eating for the first few days, but give it a try and take small bites and you should be okay.

when I got mine pierced I couldn't eat ANYTHING for 2 days. all I had was Slurpee's from 7-11. I tried to eat and it hurt like heck and i bit my tongue ring. I would try eating things that dont require actual chewing. mashed potatoes, pudding, ice cream, soup(you can make it on the stove in a pan) yogurt. I'm really surprised that the person who pierced it didnt advise you on what to eat....

By eating these things you can get an infection. They should have told you when you got your tongue done what to eat. You can heat soup up in a pan.

You can eat whatever you want. After I got mine done I went to McDonald's. I would avoid tomatoes for awhile, even ketchup irritated my tongue!

yes and no? but its better to stick with liquid diet for couple of days to avoid serious infection, and if u do decide to munch down solid stuff, rinse ur mouth after to minimize any chance of bacteria in the wound.
