He created Dux-Ryu, which is an Americamn form of Ninjitsu, he has been a very cntroversial figure in Martial Arts, as there are many who claim that he is not a Martial Artist and fabrcating elements of his past.

Included in this are his Kumite (which was purportedly an underground, no holds barred fighting tournament), as well as his military past.

Many in the Martial Arts community say that there wasn't a Senzo Tanaka that Mr. Dux claims was his teacher, nor do they uphold that Mr. Tanaka had a deceased son, or two nephews that Mr Dux also claims that he trained with.

apparently though in the Kumite that he claims he fought in and won, he has maintained that he has the trophy and holds several records in this tournament, but the validation of these have also been challenged by many in the Martial Arts community.

Of course the movie BloodSport was based on his life, and was a breakthrough role for Jean Claude Van Damme.

He is an outright fraud.

JCVD even was involved in a legal dispute with him over his claims about the story. Dux lost.

among his exploits are:

1- lying about the records and "kumite"

2- having a local trophy shop print him a trophy for which his name was incorrectly spelled as "ducks".

3- faking a demonstration in which he broke bullet proof glass with his hands. A reporter tasted the "glass" showing it to be rock candy.

4- lying about his military career and exploits.

here is an in depth investigation into him resulting from many years of research and work into the issue:

He's a phony. Soldier of Fortune magazine did a great expose on him in their series of articles on people who falsely claim to be war heroes. Just about everything about him is fake.

Obviously a secret tournament with a Japanese name in Hong Kong?! that no other martial artist ever claims to have participated in, is a very sketchy story to begin with.
