She's 17 months old now and sleeps under the covers at night. She's starting to climb up in the crib, but is she too young for a big bed?

i think ur little girl is ready for a big girl bed! what u can always do is if u have enough room in her bedroom, buy a little toddler bed set it up for her but don't take down the crib yet and slowly intruduce her into her big girl bed this way she can get used to it little by little and it won't have to be such a dramatic change all at once for her...this worked out for me. good luck and congrats on ur little big girl now! : )

Try a toddler bed, because she is too young for the big girl bed. My daughter is 18 months, and she started sleeping in her toddler bed about a month ago. She is very tall so is wasn't hard for her to climb out of the crib. I have safety rails on it so that she don't fall out.

That was about the time we took my oldest son out of the crib. He did very well. We first started with just the twin mattress on the floor and once he was comfortable with that (about a month) we put the box spring under it, and again about another month then the bed frame! He only rolled off once in the first month but never even woke up. We just found him on the floor in the am. We also put up a baby gate in the door way so he could not get up and wander the house (my biggest fear). It worked very well! Good Luck!

Standing up in a crib is not dangerous. A child who begins acting independent enough where they may attempt (and probably succeed) in climbing up out of the crib is dangerous because they can fall and hurt themselves, and would probably be better suited in a bigger bed with the special bumper side rails.

I switched my son when he turned one. He started climbing out of the crib. They have toddler beds which are very small and perfect for those who are just coming out of a crib. I think I paid 50 bucks for it, and you can use your crib mattress. The toddler beds sit very low to the ground. I hope this helps.

Leave her in her crib for her own safety until she starts climbing out of it. When you HAVE to move her to a bed, make sure her room is baby proof and that any bookcases or dressers are anchored to the wall. Put a gate in her doorway so she cant run around the house at night.

It is really up to you. If she has a tendency to be mischievous..I would wait. She is little and should be supervised. If she is able to slide out of a big girl bed and you are sleeping..will she come straight to you..or will she experiment? There are toddler beds..it just really depends on what you think she is ready for. Her 2nd birthday is only 7 months away..maybe you can get her a bed & bed set as a gift.
I would ask you to definitely consider whether you are a heavy sleeper or not. Just to keep her safe.

Yes, she's too young, unless you intend to put up with her wandering around while you're sleeping, which isn't safe for her. A crib is to keep her safe. A lot of kids can't handle that extra freedom much before 3 years of age.

Okay well obviously what she is doing is a danger to herself so I would personally move her into a big girl bed! Just buy one that has the sides on it and she will be fine!

no she not too young fro a todelr bed especially if she's trying to climb out she may hurt herself and fall out. it is always kind of scary when you hear a thump and it's becuase they fall out of their bed. it hink you should maybe get her used to a bigger bed but maybe not a big twin yet
