If I'm going to take pictures of airplanes do I need to have an Image Stabalization Lense or a normal one would be fine. I want quality pictures that can be accepted to airliners.net. Does image stabalization help a lot or a little? Are pictures without image stabilization still good or is there a lot of shaky glare and stuff?

If you ask a question like this, you may not be quite ready.

Remember, image stabilization only helps with camera movement not subject movement. Get yourself a D80 and a telephoto with F/4 or better. A 300 F/2.8 would be ideal.

The only way to stop motion is to have high shutter speeds. I recommend digital because you can shoot at 800 iso and still have a nice image. Also, be sure and get 10mp or better. That way you have a little "wiggle room" if you wish to crop the image.

You don't say whether or not your using digital or slr camera. In any case using a higher shutter speed should help.Make sure you set camera to shutter prefered over aperture perfered.Telephoto lens magnify shakiness. If possible use a shutter speed of at least 1/250 of a second while panning. You should be far enough away to have a decent depth of field.
