I don't believe there is a safe chat room for younger children. My daughter was in Disney chat, she called me and said, I cant believe It mum, they are all older men in this room.
I sat beside her and sure enough, the messages she was getting were from Asian Men, posing as young people then asking all kinds of terrible questions.
Needless to say, chat rooms were not an option for my daughter again. She used msn messenger, to talk to her own friends after school and that was it from then on.
If you allow your daughter to use chat rooms, then you are opening her world to all kinds of crazy people.

One night my phone rang and a 52 year old man from Nova Scotia asked for my 12 year old daughter who for a year talked in a "safe" chat room. Later, the police detective from the Internet Squad assigned to our case asked me if I would let my daughter walk alone in the mall. "Of course not, " I indignantly answered. "Then why do you let your daughter walk alone through the internet?" he responded. So my answer to your question is NO!

there aren't any safe chat rooms......didn't you ever watch that show where they go on all different chat rooms and act like kids to get perverts off the streets.....she is too young! If she wants to talk to her friends have her get yahoo messenger or aim messenger!

BAD IDEA. I have a 10 year old daughter, she will not be going into chat rooms until she is a adult. She can chat with her friends, whom I have met, but no one else, PERIOD.

There are a few Christian mom boards I go on that have children's sections. The mothers have to be active to sign their children up. I'd feel comfortable with those types of sites alone.

Hmm, well, if she's interested in TY (beanie babies and such), they have a message board there. Each post gets read before it gets posted.
I've known children that have gone on that site when they were younger before. It's secure.

She should try just talking on a kidz website like nick.com or disney or somethin. Or let her talk online on yahoo messenger or somethin to just her friends.
