Both me and my wife drive over 50miles a day (25there and back) to work, 5 days a week, we have calculated that gas this year has cost us around $2000 to go to work, is there anywhere I can claim this back on my tax?

No. Commuting to your normal place of business is not deductible as business mileage.

The IRS doesnt allow you to take a deduction for commuting miles to and from you principal place of business.

We should all contact our representatives in Congress and push them to pass legislations to allow everyone to be able to though. Gas is getting too expensive.

There should be a place on your Schedule A...there are restrictions however on how much you may claim...you can also claim any gas bought for a boat (it requires a special form)....in general though, unless you have enough deductions to be able to get a bigger deduction that the standard deduction, it is not worth even worrying about it...

not if it is your normal job location and over a year
if your building is being repainted and for a month you need to drive to another farther location you can claim that but not a normal comute from your home to your job

No, that's a non-deductible personal expense.
