they do tattoo outside the shows, thats theyre job!!
Its pretty hard to get appointments with any of the artists on miami ink, but its well worth teh wait.
I know Kat vond has about a 9 month waiting list and charges a $500 min. and has a mandatory deposit.
She tattoos in Los Angeles along with Chris Garver.

OH MY GOSH!!!! I love Miami Ink soooo much, and Chris Garver is my role model. I'm going to be a tattoo artist like him someday. Anyway, all I know is that to be on the show, you have to do an application on their site. They charge by how big the tattoo is and how it turns out. I know that you can get a tattoo without being on the show, I don't know I think that maybe you should take a trip to Miami and call in for an appointment.

Yes they do tattoos that aren't featured on the show. But I read that some of the artists don't work in the shop on a regular basis, so depending on which artist you want to do the work it might not happen.

As far as price, I image they charge more just because of the fame they are associated with. Yeah the tattoos are good, but I'm sure you can find great local artists too.

Look around before you get set on a place and artist. Good luck.

re: charging....artists usually look at what they are supposed to tattoo and charge based on that. It's usually not a cut and dry thing. My tattoo artist charges alot but I think that it's worth it....

I'm sure that they tattoo without showing all on their show. Otherwise, realistically, that's not that many tattooes if you think about it. Honestly though, just because they have a tv show, doesn't mean that they're the BEST in the world at what they do. Just means that they got a tv show. My artist is known as one of the top portrait artists in the world but he has a small shop next to a mechanic and a korean resturant. :)

Miami Ink kinda reminds me of Orange County Choppers.......not the best in the business......just the first ones with a T.V. show. I'm not saying that they suck ......its just that there are hundreds of artists out there as good or better than anyone on Miami Ink. Most of them have their heads down inking away .......without getting the fame and money that the fortunate few get. If you want ink as good as you see done on Miami Ink I PROMISE you that there is someone with a couple of hundred miles of you that does work as good or better. In this day and age, with the internet and the re-surging interest in tattoos, there is NO reason that ANYONE should have to wear crappy ink.

im pretty sure that they do more tatts than are on the show, otherwise theyd only do like 10 tatts a week. i dont kno what they charge, but as always teh bigger, more colorful, and more detailed, the more it will cost...im sure they are a bit more expensive than an avereage shop, cause they are now famous artists... i heard they have a waiting list...you can sign up to be on the list on their website...i need to sign up myself

Great show. I'm sure they do tattoos when the show is not being filmed. You would have to call them and find out about the prices.I'm sure it depends on what tattoo you're wanting to get.
