so i am going to san francisco for a family thing in two weeks and decided that i want to get my third tattoo while i am there.. this is what i was thinking.. i had a baby in may of 06.. and i wanted to get the flower for the month he was born, with his name Jacob Michael and 5306 for when he was born.. but i want to get his name in Greek... because i am greek... what do you think? or i was thinking of getting a rose, with his name in greek in it. can anyone draw me something if i send you the translation of his name?

I think that a tattoo celebrating the birth of your son is an excellent idea and your design sounds great. But rather than trying to get some gifted amateur from the internet to draw your design.....you need to do some research on-line. Find a listing of Tattoo artists in the San Francisco area and look at their websites one by one. Look at all of the artist galleries and find the one who's work makes your eyes pop. Contact him by email or phone and start a dialog. He will be able to take your idea and expand on it and probably make it better that you could ever image. If you do this right you're going to have a piece of art on your body instead of just another rose tattoo. A good place to start your search would be www.tattooartists.org

I like the idea, but getting tattoos while on vacation isn't always good. Usually you won't be able to find the time to have an artist draw you something and then you have to worry about your tattoo while on vacation and that doesn't seem like a vacation to me. Good luck, but if I were you I'd wait.

Something with meaning huh? Well how can a load of strangers give you ideas that are meaningful to you? Only you can decide what is meaningful, to some people their butterfly tattoos are deeply meaningful, it's just not your taste, that's all. Sorry but this is something you have to research and decide for yourself.

I think that is very sweet. I would go with the flower of his birth month on your shoulder and let the artist design it for you unless you know someone who can draw very well. I have an anklet with my sons initials as 1 of my tattoo's and the artist did it free hand. I love it.

I think it's an absolutely beautiful idea. I have a red rose (for my husband) with a pink bug of some sort and blue butterfly(for our children) in the planning to be in it somehow.
Do get a good artist to design that for you though. Sweet :)

well contact an artist for a drawing they can do it at the shop in no time if they arent swamped but i wouldnt put a date and mak sure the name isnt english so that if you ever make somebody mad or they see your tat and think oh i know her kids name and date of birth he can now be my kid and take him it wont be easily do-able. ALSO i dont know why everyone keeps talking about the petal i dont see anywhere that you talk about a petal but you DO talk about a flower so go with what you want and what you like its going to be on your body for ever unless you remove it or cover it up so think and go with what looks the best for you.

Why dont you do a big petal (not a big big one) with the babys name in Greek. I was thinking that the petal should be a color that you wont get tired of right away. Contact an artist and ask him/her about ur idea.

do the rose idea ,but if you want you arm to look like a birth certificate do the name and birth date
