How would that happen? Would I know I held a different set of beliefs the day before? Would I lose the capacity to base my beliefs on rational thought and evidence?

This is kind of like a John Lennon mind bender. In his song Imagine, he conjectures what would happen if everyone thought differently about religion (actually, no religion) and asks would this bring people together. Much could be said about that, but to your question, let's make the 24 hours a little more permanent, say, for life. A hiccup of change is seen in many today but gone tomorrow.

I am thinking the best case scenario - all seek their Creator the way He wants them to. The world would be in perfect harmony and peace. No death and hatred to mankind, no war machines. Because of a great awakening of faith in God, He would bless with no pestilence, no starvation, no disease. Utopia.

Now the worst case scenario - all abandon God and everything He desires for man. Total anarchy, selfishness, immoral behavior, etc., and due to the world's great crimes, great pestilence, and natural catostrophe, disease, and war will reign until God stops it short.

The first scenario is God's desire for man. But because man is lost in sin, the second scenario is what will really take place - see for yourself in the Book of Revelation. Right now, mankind is leaning more towards the second than the first - see for yourself in the daily news.

During that 24 hours, they would be compelled feel themselves morally superior to anyone believing anything else.

So, things wouldn't change much.

mass confusion and chaos. murder and pillaging as every one that belived that murder was wrong now found it to be good.
and the view that you should live another day? most every one would be dead. And after the 24 hours is up the survivors would wish they were dead.
