The high sugar and caffeine content. Sugar contains calories, which are units of heat. After your liver converts the sucrose to glucose, the glucose is metabolized in cells throughout your body. Some of the calories in the glucose are used to perform various functions that keep cells alive. Any calories not needed by the cells are either stored as fat or released as heat energy. Obviously a glut of sucrose will release more heat energy, raising the temperature of your body and making you sweat in order to maintain body temperature.

Caffeine is a diuretic. This means it causes your system to release greater quantities of fluids. Some of the fluids go to the kidneys and then the bladder. The rest of the excess fluids are used to supply part of the sweat required to maintain body temperature after you take in all that sugar.

Sodas don't cool you off. They don't make you stop being thirsty either. I suggest you just drink cold water.
