Sharia laws were formulated in the barbaric Middle Ages by the fanatical followers of one Mohammed, which pretty much sums up where Islam is stuck. But having said that, if you believe in a religion or faith, what it taught when it began should still be relevant. Gods don't , or should not, change with the times. They are not, or should not be subject to current fashions and morals. If god made a law 1400 years ago or three thousand years ago, it should still be the law. If you believe in god, orthodoxy is the only way to go. If homosexuality and murder were wrong then, from a religious point of view, they should be wrong now. No 'God' ever said "I'm against both of those practices now, but I will review them in a couple of thousand years"
Happily I know there are no gods, so I'm free to condemn barbaric practices from the past, in view of the fact that we have developed a little humanity and tolerance since then. If anyone advocates Sharia Law, he should be laughed at, and then ignored.

You kind of have me going ...ugh?

I live in the heart of the Middle East and I don't see any of the above mentioned happening.

As to Sharia Law?I watched Shka Haya (United Nations) on Al Jazeera TV a few weeks ago stating that Sharia Law is open to so much personal interpretation that it is really hard to define.

Like all religions or causes, due to human apathy ,strong deviants almost always seem to climb to the top of the pile.

there laws are pretty much run in the man's favor and women can be killed in an honor killing for being raped. Two people have to hear her scream and if he puts his hand over her mouth.
She's guilty. If she is raped her best course is to keep her mouth shut about it. They can be burried with just there head out of the sand and then they stone her head to death. So she can't ward off the blows with her hands. They are pretty brutal. Suprises me since there is so few women.
Gay people are unheard of. Sure they would meet a horrible end.
Usually young women are married off to older men. A man gets a young women when he becomes an older man.
It is a real cultural shock for most Americans and British.
You have to be there to realize making them civilized is pretty much impossible.

Because like most governments they make the rules as they see fit.
You and I are only the puppets that do as they say, ignorance is a very bad concept of policies and religion is bigoted in many ways.

Sharia laws make me feel physically sick.My heart goes out to the people who live in extreme fear of them. Its the way the goverments keep the people under control. What astonishes me is that some young muslims want them laws in this country.I honestly cannot understand why they would want to live under such horrific rules.

Christians no longer jail or persecute people. We gave that up earlier in this Century. The others aren't that forgiving.

Once you understand organized religion is not about faith or worship, but rather controlling the behavior of others and acquiring power, the rest follows easily.
