You can increase the space between the letters of each word by selecting the text and choosing Font from the Format menu. Here, under the Character Spacing tab you click on the drop-down arrow at Spacing and choose Expanded. You can enter the amount of space, by which you want to expand the spacing between characters, in the box to the right.

All of the above answers a good ones. I'm not sure what you want, but I'm happy to take a different approach to the question. Word has a feature called a non-breaking space. For instance, if you want a telephone number to stay on one line instead of splitting at the end of of a line, rather than using the space bar between the Area Code and the telephone number, use Ctrl+Shift+space bar. If you turn on "Show All" (the paragraph sign on the toolbar--backwards P looking button), you will be able to see the difference between a regular space and a non-breaking space. Anything before a non-breaking space or spaces and anything following will stay together.
Also works with the hyphen key. If you want a hyphenated date to stay together on one line instead of splitting at the end of a line, use Ctrl+Shift+the hyphen key.

spotlight all of your documents, CtrlA, then correct button of mouse to open submenu, all the way down to font, click on the nature spacing tab and then change the nature spacing. you'll see how the textual content seems int he small preview window - probable round 1pt spacing will be what you want yet its as a lot as you for sure. I actually have not in any respect heard although of this requirement for textual content, previous for sure finished justification which, relying on the quantity of words to a line does in certain circumstances area the textual content out extra.

Do you mean like this _________ ?
they are called underscores
two keys left of the backspace key press it and you'll see " - "
press shift and that key and you'll see " _ " the underscore
I find it odd that the underscore is above the dash and not under it as the name implies
