You simply knock on her door and ask for your $20, and if she fails to pay her debt to you, knock on her door again and give her a piece of your mind...don't let it go (not speaking to her makes her the winner, she'll still have your $20).

She is your neighbor, and you want to keep on good terms with neighbors so don't confront, don't stop speaking but don't let it go. Perhaps you could knock on her door and say that you need a few dollars. You remembered that she owed you some, and she could just take it out of what she owed. Just a few dollars .... maybe for some milk and a loaf of bread or something.

Ask her for it back, and when you get it back, thank her for the lesson. Don't hate her for not paying you back when expected. Money is not worth stay up nights for. I'm sure you thought she really needed it at the time. I commend you for trying to help where you could. Money is never 'lost'. Some day, when you need a hand, I'm thinking that there'll be a person there to help you, even when you can't pay it back right away.

Let it go. But learn your lesson. Don't lend money. Period. If someone asks you for money, decide if you can live without it. If you can, give it to them, without expecting it back. If you can't live without the money, then say, "I'm not in a position to do that, I'm sorry". If they pay you back, then it's a bonus, and a credit to their integrity. If they don't pay you back, well, you're still a generous person who helped someone out in a scrape. And you wouldn't be stressed out about it, either. No lose situation.

For twenty bucks, let it go. You have to live near this person, so it would make no sense to create a ruckus over such a small amount of cash. You now have a window into this persons character.... don't associate with her anymore, and don't lend out anymore cash to neighbors. The hassle and tension of their debt to you isn't worth it.

LOL, My neighbor asked me for $5. All I had was a $10. She still TRIES to bum for rides, telephone, cigarettes, food...and yet can't seem to come up with the $10. I tell her NO. Use me once, lesson learned! Let it go and help her no longer.

Try something like this: "Hi neighbor, I lent you 20 bucks and I'd like to have them back. Please, pay me."
If this doesn't work you can approach her a few days later: "Do you remember the 20 bucks you owe me? I must admit that you're very clever at stealing. You're a good thief. I want to reward you by giving you those 20 dollars."
Of course, end of the friendship.

Try this, knock her door, then when she opens the door,,
say, , you remember me,,? I always remember someone who owes me, even for 20 bucks. . so, would you like me to wait, as you get my 20 bucks? thanks, I'll wait for you . . .if she says she doesn't have the right money, then ask when does she wants you to come back,
don't let her get away, she'll keep on doing it and get use to it,,
not a good thing to learn . .

Write her a letter and ask for the money, and put in there that you are making a copy for future use.She will pay you and ask you why you copied the letter, tell her so that she would pay and ask.You only have to imply that you will go further.......It works.
