Basically, I'm trying to decide if HDTV is worth the money or not. In 2008 will everyone need converters for "old" tv's or will cable be ok? I don't want to have to replace all of my tv's yet if I won't have to! Thanks!

Cable will be ok, it is not affected. Only if you use an antenna will you need a converter. And it's Feb 17, 2009 when analog shuts down.

Wait a while while prices keep coming down. Then check out the DLPs. Much better than either LCD or Plasma.
