Its all really mind over matter!! As soon as the needle is through the skin the pain is virtually gone!! i have 10 tatts and 9 piercings and they really arent that painful it truely is mind over matter. if it really hurt bad no one would get it done!! If you like the look of a lip piercing get it!! Its not permanent you can take it out whenever you watn and puit it back in and in 10 yrs if you dont want it you can always take it out!!! Go for it!!!!!

I haven't had my lip pierced, but I have had my tounge done four times (each time being MY choice to take it out). I have had my ears pierced three times, and my first tattoo on my upper back, all of which seemed to hurt equally. I have a low pain threshold and almost fainted the first time of each. The pain as I remeber it wasn't really that bad, but I had told myself it wouldn.t hurt and it did and I don't think that I was ready for it. I would do all of the above and my lip if my job would allow it. Do it for you though, not just to be cool, my girlfriend has ears, lip, tounge, eyebrow, nipples, and downstairs and has over 20 tattoos, she looks great but I think she feels she may have over done it a bit. So, do it for you, do it for the right reason. It will more than likely hurt, a lot, but that's part of the fun right?

Don't do it. It's not going to look cool. It's not going to make you look older and therefore, more independent. It could leave A BIG, OL' UGLY scar. A lip ring may be the "in-thing" now--or WAS--and something that you strongly desire at the moment, but are you going to want it five years from now, like in your Senior pictures? Give it some more thought, please. Ya' know, when you are introduced to someone new, like a cute girl at the mall, the first thing she is going to notice is the lip ring...not your nice smile, your eyes, nor your cool jeans. Nope! Her eye is going to be drawn to that ring jutting out of your lip! Yuck!!

It hurts like getting a large needle shoved through your lip would hurt.

Balance the pain from the procedure versus the looks of disgust when most people see you with the ring. Not meant as criticism just reality.
