How can we get them to be friends? They are both really sweet dogs and love to play but we are experiencing a turf war I think. Please help! They really have to find a way to get along or somebody's gonna be homeless and that would be a drag! Thanks,

You should get the dog whisperer's book or rent the dvds of his show. He's very clear about how to introduce a new dog.
First, resist the urge to give the new gal lots and lots of affection. Try as little as possible (I know is hard with those squishy, sweet pit faces). Do the walk with them to show them that YOU are the alpha, not either of them and that the 3yr old gal is next is above the newby.
Also, get the new girl fixed soon.

You should have let the 2 dogs meet first, before bringing the new one into the household.
So, if one of them becomes homeless because of your inability to reseach first, then thats a shame. And the reason shelters are full of animals, is because owners dont reseach breeds, and personality before making a commitment to an animal

try taking them to a neutral area and have them meet each other again. at home try getting a muzzel for both dogs and let them meet each other on leash look the dog whisper on dvd or on line if he is on the internet

Do the introductions slowly and ALWAYS with supervision. Get the new girl fixed as soon as you can. Good luck to you.

Need to talk them both for a walk, and if you see one become more dominate over the other you need to take control.. Watch THE DOG WHISPERER! WOOHO.
