It sounds like with being in their 80`s, they probably could not help you anyway. If I were you I would leave my sisters a little something but I would leave the majority to your friend/neighbor. As far as your sister`s children, I wouldn`t even worry about them because they could at least help you a little. GOOD LUCK

No matter what a person should give their assets to their children and age has no difference. It would be okay to give to a friend or neighbor if no children was living and they should be given attention before any other relatives if they contributed toward help in any way. Then you could consider other relatives if they helped out.

The friend/neighbour that stuck by you! Sorry but your family would be to old to appreciate the real value. If they haven't been there for you even with commitments of there own, why should you be there for them! Your friend/neighbour is probably doing it through a kind heart and not expecting anything in return, and you would be returining the favour! It would be like giving it to charity, only closer to home, to someone who helped you. I wish you the best of luck! xoxo

In your consideration, you might want to ask yourself...
"Who has been the one(s) I could count on to be there for me again and again?" If you have relatives and they do not spend a minute with you or contact you....what does that tell you of your value to them?
Value your friendships, your voluntary caregivers, those who have tried to enrich your life in the ways you saw brought enjoyment and benefit to your life. You might find that a lift to church or to a doctor's office, or a frequent word shared with the mailman or the son of your neighbor who has cared for you for so many times have been the moments you find priceless. How would you try to reward them in leiu of giving things to uncaring relatives? If you are unable to make decisions, if money is involved, why not contact the local schools and see if they have a fund they use to assist students who are unable to pay for field-trips, etc. Just do something useful instead of giving it to a cat.

Family is defined as a group of people bound by blood and common
ancestry. Or a couple and their children. But there are many people who have no relation that are more or equal as family. Who do I consider family? The good friend who sat with my terminally ill father until I was able to get to the hospital. The friend who sat in court with me when my son got into trouble. The friend who sent me 1000.00 when times were rough. The friend who made me laugh when I felt like crying. The friend who encouraged me to continue with my career in the face of adversity and I was ready to give up. The friend who just says..."Girl, I love you. or the one who comes over and we sit silently.Let me not forget the one who accompanied me to the morgue to identify my daughter. The friend who makes her family my family. When I go, my friends will be remembered, compensated and missed. Family is a group of people who love you and have shown their love time and time again

I'd leave the money to the friend. I'd make the will uncontestable by leaving each of the surviving relatives only $1.00 which gives them an inheritance they deserve! Otherwise, the friend might have to slug it out in probate.

They say you cannot choose your blood relatives. But true friends are more family than the relatives. I would stick with the people who have shown they care. They are the true family you have chosen to be in your life. Take care .
