Like I said I'm 18, went to college but hated it and dropped out after the 1st semester. Now I'm home, thinking about what I could possibly do with my future. I'm scared of being a failure. I can't even get a job?? I've tried, but maybe not hard enough. But I want to know if anyone else has dropped out of school, and had any success? Or went back to school? Please someone help me!

In all honesty there has been plenty of times when i wanted to quit, but my biggest fear is failure. I cannot promise that college is easy but i can almost guarantee it will be hard, it is your fight that makes or breaks the ending result. what you want in life depends solely on you there is no way to blame any one but yourself for your failures and successes, there are always bad days some worse than others but every storm has and end and when the end comes you just become better suited for the long journey ahead. just don't give up entirely sweetheart! plenty of students start school with fears beyond any that you could ever imagine but they continue and just like they have a chance so do you, to get the same education that anyone can get! so what if it is not what you thought is would be, your future means more. this is 2007 and high school diplomas are just not enough... you know what you need to do at least get your basics out of the way and then from there figure out what direction you want to go in. you are welcome to contact me for more support.... JUST RELAX AND STAY FOCUSED!!!

You're scared of failing, yet you failed college by dropping out. You sit at home and ask yourself what you'll do with your future, yet you complain about not being able to get a job.

College is not about hating it or loving it. The majority of college students hate school with a passion, but still graduate because they know what lies ahead of them. You're 18 -- an adult. Stop starting things and then quitting.

I also quit, like the fool I was. It took me 20 more years of working in factories and restaurants to go back ato school. Instead of graduating in 1956 I graduated in 1980. In 1985 I went to college for nursing, got my L.P.N. license in 1987. Had 6 kids and I should never have screwed up so badly, but I thought I knew best! I messed everything up, because I couldn't get a decent paying job.

I dropped out of school last year and started doing homeschooling. You should go on a course or something. A correspondence type of course?
