There was a guy I worked with that I liked as more than a friend but he only wanted to be friends he said. His actions continued to be confusing for me because he didn't act towards me like someone who just wanted friendship. I asked him to stop talking to me and he did.
He works somewhere else now and on his last day he came over and said goodbye which was nice and I wished him good luck on his new job and figured that would be it. He could have just left and not had any contact with me but he continues to be in contact. I have told him if he feels bad about what happened it's okay and that I know he'll have new people in his life and I will understand if he's too busy to keep in touch. He just seems to want things back when we were very, very close and not discuss what we are now or what he wants. So after 9 months of this I guess I wonder if he just doesn't want to hurt my feelings still? Or could he care for me too but isn't ready to deal with it?

I have a friend, I know if I let it it could be more, I am just not over my ex wife even after 18 months. I don't know why, but at this point in my life I feel I would hurt someone else, not on purpose, by dating and then she wanted to get back together. I do care about this other person, and I guess I try to keep it close as possible.
If I ever do come to terms with my divorce, I know that this person could make me happy but I am just scared that I am not ready yet, but at the same time don't want to lose a friendship.

Trust me. Even if he doesn't realize it yet, he does care about you...a lot. He says he only wants to be friends because if you two start dating he is worried that if you break up, it will ruin the friendship. He cares about you so much. You're lucky to have a guy like that.
