Exactly what I'm asking myself at the moment.
I think it's because one is unsure of whether to show their feelings or not and the other falls for this and acts in the same way.
And being straight up doesn't always solve the problem cos if the other one carries on u get frusturated and then play them at their own game. So confusing and unneccessary at times but can make things interesting.

Because dating is a courtship ritual and we, as humans, are all about head stuff.
My very first boyfriend always said "don't play mind game" and I remember that to this day- I don't EVER mess with anyone's head!
I could... I am a woman afterall. But I don't. And I do have to monitor myself and stop it on occasion. But *I* am not DATING! I am LUCKY!
Dating is finding common ground and finding your way. Working out dynamics and that in itself is a game. It is akin to any animal working out that natural pecking order. The marking of territory, the flexing of muscles, roaring loudest and head butting of stags. It is what we do when we get to know another person.
Sucks, eh?

If you are dating a "Real Man" or "Real Woman" it won't be. it will be honest and wholesome. KIDS play mind games, not responsible adults. If someone is doing this to you, dump them. They have a lot to learn about love. Why should you get hurt in the process?

Because one is trying to figure out what the other is thinking and visa versa. It's like a self preservation thing. People don't want to drive the other away or let them too close. They just don't wanna get hurt!

It doesn't and it shouldn't.
It takes two to play those kinds of games and if you are allowing it, then you are part of the problem. When one person begins to be honest and refuses to "play" the other usually must came clean too or play all alone.

it's because you can not read my mind correctly all the time.
no two persons are the same, the mind is involved when you have to figure out if you are on the right tract.
it keep you in the balance, both pains and gains.

you know what its about . Its the way to find out where you stand /what you want to know ,with less chance of being humiliated than there is by asking straight out .And a way to play for time before you make any commitment
