Well a lot of times with little or no credit companies deny you because say your applying for mastercard, and you buy $500 worth of stuff they have no guarantee that you will pay them back. To build credit start small, buy something like furniture which you can pay for month by month and them showing you payd and on time will build it. You can also apply for a low-level credit card, they build credit fast and then you can move on to bigger and better things. Never do these things though unless you know you can pay them, as much as it could help you it could hurt you. If you don't pay your score drops! The higher your score the better, the best you can have is 850. Good Luck, and spend wisely!

I don't know from this question whether you have little or no credit or whether your credit is bad. There are some options to get a credit card for people with little or bad credit through a secured credit account. You put an amount equal to your credit limit into an interest bearing savings account, and the creditor issues you a credit card. As long as you are responsible with your credit, you will have your security deposit returned in a specified length of time. Capital One Bank has been known to give unsecured credit cards with low limits to higher risk people at fairly reasonable rates as well. Credit limits increase as time goes on if the card is used responsibly.

According the the Fair Debt Collection and Practices Act, you are entitled to one free credit report from each of the 3 major reporting agencies each year. There is only one place to get this specific report. Get it at http://www.annualcreditreport.com.

Hope this helps.

Many of the free credit report websites require you to sign up for a fee-based service. Good news is you have the right to request a credit report from all the 3 credit agencies for free. I believe it is once per year. The only down fall to this, is you have to write a letter, and wait for a written response. But, this is completely free and accurate. Here is a website on requesting information.

you need to buy something on payments from a store then before the balance comes due ,pay it off in full. That is how I established my credit. then get a credit card with a small limit (mine is $1000.00) and always pay it in full. If you are working full time you should be able to handle that. dont carry more than 1 credit card no matter how many "pre-approved" notices you get in the mail. Also always pay your utility bills on time.
