I have tried sittting down with my parents, and it doesn't work. My dad is just being stubborn. There is a bus too and from, there are like four other kids that live close, so we could car pool, it is known for being a good school, and people I know would rather go to it, then the very best magnet school in the district.

If the cost is the same, there is no reason for your folks to stop you. Is there really another reason...a boy or a friend who goes there that your parents don't like?

You are brave to take on a better program for your long term goals.

Go for it!

Do they really not have a real reason for you not to go to the magnet school? Talk to them and ask specific questions, but do this only after you are armed with answers to any questions that they may have. I am a teenager so let me tell you what my parents would ask...
1. How are you going to get to and from school?
2. Are there any extra costs associated with the magnet school?
3. Are the courses accepted the same as courses from the district school?
4. Will the magnet shool enhance your ability to get into college?
5. Why do you want to go to the magnet school?
6. Why don't you want to go to the district school?
7. Are you prepared to make the best grades possible? you should be prepared for straight A's.
8. What extra curricular activites do you plan to be involved in?

Good luck.

I would say that this needs to be discussed with your parents, but it depends on your parents reasons for wanting you to go to the one of their choice. I know where I am at if you go to a high school out of your district, then you have to pay money to go and it is not cheep. Most places want even let that happen anymore because so many people want to do it it is not even funny.

Again I would say talk to the, and ask their reasons and see you you can come to a compromise.

You need to let your parents read some brochures about the Magnet Schools. They are wonderful!I couldn't imagine any parent not wanting there child to attend a magnet school!I'm not sure where you live but here in Mo. their is awaiting list & you have to make excellent grades just to get in.

is it a good school or is ti a school for your friends. tell them you respect them and love them as well, but you are getting older now and some decision should be made for your self if you fail, it is your fault if you fail they will probably say i told you so convince them that the school you chose is just as good of a school they want you to go like graduating class, how are the teachers just compare the schools side by side and eliminate the bad the one with the best to offer you should go to

Why not just sit down with them and ask them to give you their reasons why they don't want you to go? Then tell them what the benefits would be for you if you did go to this school.Communication is a powerful thing. When spoken sincerely.~Good luck~
