Have you noticed. Seems strange, every other animal does.

Hello Jennifer, I had never noticed this, so I just looked at my cats and both of them don't appear to have eyelashes! However, I know that cats have a third eyelid (which opens and shuts from one side -ie the side closest to the nose). So perhaps this third lid is an alternative to eyelashes. But maybe someone who actually knows what they are talking about may answer this for you!

I have my cat in my lap right now and I'm looking and I think I saw some lines that were like thinker than her fur, so maybe cats do have eyelashes but their just too small.

Cats do have eye lashes..just sec let me get my cat lol....Ok found him sleeping on a sleeping bag in the finished basement...I adore cats! Anyway look right above you cats eyes...There should be some white hairs right above the eyes. See...there long! Lol. Might be hard to notice but...Oh and I also just noticed that their eye lashes look like whiskers above their eyes.

I believe humans have eyelashes to protect our eyes. like, if something is coming at our eye, it hits our eyelashes first and causes us to blink so the object does not actually get into our eyes.

cat's have whiskers and tiny eye lashes to detect such things. they use many senses other than um... eyelashes to detect things.

my kitty Edie's fur comes right down to her eyes, and just above the eye the hair is longer, so it is raised slightly out over her eye. COULD THIS BE THE MYSTERIOUS HIDDEN EYELASHED CAT?!

Cats Biologically do not have eyelashes for one main reason...
A) Because it impedes on their Nightvision eyes by blocking out what light there is still left.

becuase you cant buy kitty eyelash curlers for the female ones,so they dont have eyelashes so that when they are gettin ready to go to a party with their wee kitty friends then its one less thing for them to do!and also it would be a bit awkward for a kitty to put on mascarra with only having tiny little paws and she might get it all in her eyes!HEE HEE :-)LOL

Because they have whiskers instead. it isnt weird, it would be weird to see a cat with eyelashes.
