i feed my dogs eukanuba and have since i bought them. i also mix in wet food when i fed them. it sounds like he is getting what he needs. if he is eating the food, has good skin and coat, and is active u need to leave him on it. if u are concered on what he needs to eat, call a vet and consult with them on ur dogs diet and needs. i feed my dogs eukanuba(small breed) because that is what my vet reccomended(specailzes in dogs). my cats just got switched over to eukanuba sensitive stomach and they have not had any problems with it. i have spent two years trying to find something that my cats could keep down and was good for them. i personally have had very good luck with my dogs and cats on the brand. if i were u though, i would contact ur vet to ask them what they think, thats ur best bet on good advice since they are the experts... good luck!

I really like Natural Balance Ultra Premium (it is available at Petco and many small pet stores carry it now). It is kind of expensive, but it doesn't cost much more than Eukanuba and it is a lot better quality food. They also offer canned formulas that are a lot better quality than the Alpo, plus my dogs go nuts for the Natural Balance canned formulas which they do not do with Alpo. I have never seen a brand of dog food make the dogs coat look better without any extra supplements. Also, it is fine for dogs of a life stages so he can be switched to it now. In my opinion it is just as good for large breed puppies as the normal large breed puppy food.

I do not recommend Iams, Eukanuba, Nutro MAX, or Science Diet. They all have lots of lower quality ingredients (like by-products and ground corn) and all you are really paying for is the name. My dogs have done absolutely great on Natural Balance, and they did horrible on Eukanuba. I would not ever feed them Iams, Nutro, or Science Diet, but that is just because of the ingredients in the foods.

I too have an American Pitbull (He's 9yrs. old & I had him since he was 5weeks old). I started him with Eukanuba for the first year after that he really didnt want it, so I went for his taste, try the same, purchase small bags let him get used to it as well especially if he likes it. Just don't switch him in 1 shot, gradually add the new food to the Eukanuba, otherwise you will notice he may get the runs. for my boy he likes Beneful, but if you go to a store brand dogfood like Purina or whatever make sure to check the main ingredients on the back, the first few should include the meats however you will notice most say cornmeal first. Just make sure you give him vitamins to supplement what he might not be getting in the food. I also never use wet canned food. small bits of table scraps(non greasy foods) is better. My dog loves eggs, carrots, fruit, steak, chicken etc. again small amounts mixed in with the dry. Now i said I've had him for 9years and he is in perfect health, I keep him fit, clean & his teeth get brushed as well. His Vet couldn't be happier and he is active like he's still 2 years old. I have a site I did in 1999 if you want to check it out. Just take note that my e-mail address has changed. Hope that helps, best of luck with your baby.

at first i thought eukanuba and science diet were the best. however when i adopted my second dog the rescue group that i talked to recommended either Nutro or Natural Balance. They actually were recommended these by dog nutritionists. A lot of vets will recommend science diet, but that is because they are payed to do so. Nutro and Natural Balance are both available at PetCo and Nutro is available at Petsmart as well. They cost about the same as Eukanuba. Mine are on Natural Balance now and they love it, it is the meatiest dry dog food and very good quality.

The best for your dog is what they do well on. Mine do great on Eukanuba. They always have. The worst food I ever tried was Nutro. Some people SWEAR by Nutro, but my dogs did REALLY bad on it. There is no perfect food for every dog. IF your dog is doing good on what you are feeding, go with it!!!!

Science Diet; they have lots of different choices for different aged and sized dogs. Eukanuba is good too. Just make sure to follow the feeding instructions on the package; if you want to give hiim treats you should lessen it by about 10% otherwise he'll get fat.

Iams, Science Diet and eukenba are all good dog foods as you can't go wrong with any of them. the only thing I wouldn't use is alpo. You should try and use 1 brand of dog food .

eukanuba is a very good food, but from my experience hill's science diet is the best. they provide nutrients that the dog needs with no unneeded additives. they research and test their food before putting it on the shelf.

It really depends on your dog. Holistic foods, such as Solid Gold are good because they have no wheat or grains which are bad for your dog. The best non-holistic dog food has to be Iams. Good luck with your new puppy!
