To Tyconkate- yes I really am a F/A- but I have been on furlough for two years now- got my recall for May- but I haven't traveled on a plane since the new changes- great observation on your part! You've been reading around answers! LOL

this is what i received from the airline i'm flying with

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED TO BE CARRIED IN PASSENGER'S BAGGAGE
(CHECKED OR UNCHECKED)

- DISABLING DEVICES SUCH AS MACE, PEPPER SPRAY, ETC.
CONTAINING AN IRRITANT OR INCAPACITATING SUBSTANCES;
- ATTACH'E BRIEFCASES WITH INSTALLED ALARM DEVICES;
OR INCORPORATE LITHIUM BATTERIES AND/OR PYROTECHNIC MATERIAL;
- EXPLOSIVES, MUNITIONS, FIREWORKS AND FLARES;
- COMPRESSED GASES (FLAMMABLE, NON-FLAMMABLE OR POISONOUS)
SUCH AS BUTANE, PROPANE, AQUALUNG CYLINDERS, LIGHTERS,
LIGHTER FUELS OR REFILLS;
- FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS SUCH AS PAINTS AND ADHESIVES;
- FLAMMABLE SOLID SUCH AS "STRIKES ANYWHERE MATCHES" AND
ARTICLES WHICH ARE EASILY IGNITED;
- OXIDIZING SUBSTANCES SUCH AS BLEACHING POWDER, PEROXIDES;
- POISONS SUCH AS ARESNIC, CYANIDES, INSECTICIDES,
WEEDKILLERS;
- RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS;
- CORROSIVE MATERIALS SUCH AS ACIDS, ALKALIS, MERCURY AND
WET CELL BATTERIES;
- KNIVES, SCISSORS AND ANY OTHER SHARP OBJECTS CONSIDERED
ILLEGAL BY LOCAL LAW;
- ANY OTHER SUBSTANCES WHICH DURING AIR TRANSPORT PRESENT A
DANGER NOT COVERED ABOVE, SUCH AS MAGNETISED, OFFENSIVE OR
IRRITATING MATERIAL.

The restrictions are made only to the handbags so whatever u need and u think the airline does not allow it put it in the baggage that u're leaving at the check-in

Actually if you go to your airline's web page, they should have a link or list of what is/isn't allowed on an airplane. Restrictions have been lifted and are not as strict.

Any of those things in are fine checked-in baggage. Carry-on, bottled liquids might be challenged...

you cant bring toothepaste!!(well if it is over 100ml) basically u cant bring any liquids/gels over 100ml. if u do you'll need to show it at security officials at checkpoints. and your going to need to put things in a clear plastic bag if it is over 100ml

idk about the hair straightener but the other items have to be placed in a Ziploc bag
