Well I would hope that someone would call the humane society and the dog woudl get taken away from you.

It is absolutely NOT ok to leave a dog alone like that. That is most certainly a form of abuse. PLease do not do this to this dog or any animal. If you think that this is OK to do perhaps you should not own animals at all.

Nothing good. If the dog is usually an inside dog you run the risk of aggressive behavior, running away, some SERIOUS destructive behavior.

I would recommend asking your neighbors, or a friend to take your dog in if you can't afford a kennel.

Leaving a dog outside in some places - especially w/o shelter is considered animal cruelty. If you have a noise ordinance in your area and the dog is barking you can have the dog taken away. Also if your neighbors are concerned they can call the police and have the dog taken.

A huge risk for something so silly

Without food and water, your dog will get very sick, and may die.
It's considered abandonment to do that to your dog. If animal control caught wind of that; they'd come by and take your dog. At the very least, get a written agreement from a friend or neighbor agreeing to feed and water your dog at least once a day. Post a notice on your door stating who is taking care of your dog and both your and your friend's contact information. If you plan on leaving your dog outside in the winter, make sure your dog has adequate shelter. Check with your city to make sure it's not against the law to leave your dog outside for that long. Make sure your fence is very secure, and your dog has a current tag. If your dog is going to be a nusiance to the neighbors with incessant barking, don't leave your dog outside that long. Consider boarding your dog at a boarding facility or vet's office, or having a friend stay over at your house to "doggie-sit" until you get back. Considering all the horrible things that can happen to a dog left unattended that long, I would never, ever consider it.

What do you mean outside alone?

You mean with no one coming by to feed it, give it water or check on its well-being? That is cruelty.

In a fenced yard or on a chain? Dogs should NEVER be chained. It gives them no means to avoid something it is afraid of and causes aggression. Your dog could bite somebody.

What kind of weather conditions? Would the dog have good shelter and a bed? Without proper shelter to get out of the elements, your dog could die.

Is your dog used to being in the house with your family? Your dog would be left alone with no companionship. This would be very frightening, It could also cause your dog to try and escape or bark and disturb your neighbors.

Outside for a week alone? A very bad and cruel idea.

Firstly, your neighbours will probably report you to the humane society, especially if it's winter time!! As long as the dog has a shelter (a dog house just big enough to go inside and turn around in; if its too big the dog can't keep it warm with just body heat), a food source and fresh water it will probably be fine physically. The next problem after those is boredom; a dog with nothing to do and nothing to play with can become destructive -- dig under fences to get out, chew things, whatever it can find to stay occupied.

First of all why do you want to leave your dog outside? Are you going out of town? If you are then you need to take it to the vet so they can board it, or take it to a kennel, if you can't do that then you should have another family member or a friend to come over and feed the dog, and spend some time with him. If you want to leave your dog outside for the hell of it, then you don't need to own a dog.

GEE I don't know, What would happen to you if you were left outside alone for a week?
I can't believe that you would even have to ask such a thing. Maybe you could have someone come and stay with your dog while you are away, just a thought.

A German Shepherd Requires Companionship They are not a dog for every one especially those people who would leave them outside for a week without care. I would highly suggest that you buy yourself a book on dog care or if you can't afford one ,check with your local library.or be guided by this link.

get arrested. It is winter and where i live it gets about -1 here in the north east. Leaving a dog outside is crul. If you cant keep your dog inside then you shouldnt have a dog period. When i see a dog outside. the same dog every day morning and night it makes me sick. The owners make me sick. Please dont make me sick. Keep him inside or have a relative that lives near you babysit. Never bring a dog to a kenel. Ive seen what goes on behind closed doors. not nice
