Yes. The IRS has partnered with tax preparation services to allow millions of taxpayers to prepare and e-file their returns for free. While most do not offer free state filing, there are a couple that do. If a service is not eligible for free state filing, you should go to your state's Dept of Revenue website and see if they offer it.
Turbo Tax and H & R Block are just two of the partnered services.
If you're concerned with security, just check the website address. If it starts with "https:", it is a secured site.

You can file on your computer but not free to do so. You can use a program like turbo-tax which is awesome. It's totally confidential and it finds you every dollar. Im sure the other programs all do the same thing, but i've found this is easiest and very self explainatory. Once you file you get the option to mail you a check (4-6 weeks) or deposit it into an account (7-9 days) and they take the fee right out of your tax return $25-$50. Which really isnt bad for all the things they come up with to get you money back and they need to make money too. Good Luck, it's not hard!

You can use Free File through the irs website if you qualify {meeting age/income restrictions, etc} at http://www.irs.gov Good luck
