The problem with discerning reliability on a new car, like the new, redesigned 2007 Nissan Sentra, is that it hasn't been on the market long enough to discover all the flaws in it. Reliability for the first year of a new model or a redesigned one is always a big question mark? Will it be good or bad? No one knows yet because the consumer hasn't tested it yet.

Previous Nissan Sentras have been up and down in reliability. They've ranged anywhere from better than average to horrible (according to Consumer Reports). There are two other things to take notice of here.

1. Look at the reliability of other recent Nissan offerings, like the Quest, the Armada, and the Titan, which all ranked at the bottom of their respective classes. However, these aren't the Nissan cars, and have different engines. The Nissan cars generally rank around the middle.

2. Since Renault is the new owner of Nissan, if possible, check the reliability on the Renault version of the car since it's been out longer (one that uses the same engine at least) in European automotive magazine websites. I believe it's called the Renault Megane, or possibly the Clio.

Here's a brief list of other cars with proven reliability in the same class as the Nissan Sentra that you can check out in case you're interested in any of them.

Ford Focus
Honda Civic
Hyundai Elantra
Kia Spectra
Toyota Corolla

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

I had a 2000 Sentra. It was a good car but I did run into an issue with the brakes and the idler pulley around 30,000 miles.

Other than that, it ran great. But I would recommend looking at some other small cars for comparison.
