my fiance got my ring offline. he got it frm a site called mystic caravan, who ordered it from a company in scotland. it's very pretty!!!! and we weren't ripped off at all!!! in fact we got it special ordered with a different stone. the only problem was that the diamond measurements aren't in carats, and i found them confusing. cons...an absolutely gorgeous ring!!!!! look out for companies that seem shaky, or for individual people, just because they may not be too well known

We bought the engagement ring that my son gave to his girlfriend on Ebay. We checked out the seller. They had excellent feedback. We looked for a long time to decide what we wanted, and how much we should spend. We got a terrific deal, and they are very satisfied. It was "estate jewelry" which just means that it is used. There are many used engagement rings out there from broken engagements and couples who decided to get a second engagement ring with a larger diamond. We did have to get it sized, which is not expensive at all. And it was a challenge to find a wedding ring which would fit next to it. We were on the verge of having one made, but my husbnad found one in an antique shop which fit beautifully. After the wedding, we had them soldered together. I would definitely recommend Ebay or other sources of used rings.

I've heard Blue Nile is a good site to buy engagement rings from, although I'm not quite sure how much cheaper it is from a jewelry store. There are many cons to online, you don't kow what it actually looks like, the clarity of the diamond, or the quality, will it fit? what happens if it doesn't? will it come in time? Honestly if you try chain jewelry stores like Zales, or Kays< or Belden's you can see the diamond and even open up a credit card with low interest. Your best bet is to see the diamond before you pay for it.

I bought our wedding rings online and was basically satisfied. The price was right.

If you *do* decide to buy a diamond online, make sure you only use a reputable source and do your homework. Meaning, be sure to understand Colour, Cut, Carat, Clarity, styles, etc.

DO NOT get one online. you can't even see it to see what they are selling. Go to a local jeweler of a Kay's or Zales and sit down with them so they can actually SHOW YOU what you will be buying.
