I've sung in front of hundreds of thousands of people so far in my life. Here are some suggestions:

1. Reconcile within yourself that no one is allowed to judge you when you're on stage. Tell yourself that when you're singing, you sing for yourself and for God...

2. Tell yourself that no one's really paying attention, anyway. Why be nervous? This is one of my favorites.

3. Do the opposite of the previous suggestion and find one or two people in the audience who you can tell are enjoying your performance. Sing your heart out just for them!

3. I was given this tip by an industry professional: Think about the meaning of the lyrics and what it means to you personally. Don't just be listening to yourself sing. Truly feel the message of the lyrics.

4. Before I go on stage, I say a prayer. It normally goes something like, "God, this is your show, and You gave me any talent that I have. Use this time to glorify Yourself. I pray that this goes well, and that I give an excellent performance. If I mess up or look stupid, though, I'll just trust that that's what needed to happen to bring some good into the world today." See, when you say that, all the pressure is gone.

I believe you should always have a degree of nevousness but not enough to cause your performance to suffer. Be certain that you know your piece and that you are comfortable with it. I like singing to myself, constanly. Rehearse in your minds eye, you don't always have to sing out loud to practice. Rehearse how are you most comfortable standing and/or moving while you sing. Try to see your performance space before the audience arrives, walk on the stage, do a mike check. Know if you are more comfortable singing in front of friends or not. If you like having familiar people with you bring your own cheering section. You might also have a friend who you can use as a sounding board, ask their honest opinion on how you sound and what recommendations they have for you. Last, but definitely not least, sing for God and seek His guidance. If He gave you this gift there is nothing that anyone can say or do that will stop you from singing and knowing this will give you an inner peace to go on.

Try to believe in yourself. The first time I had to sing a solo I was so nervous but I knew if I didn't do it I would never understand the beauty and the thrill of letting my voice be heard. Get out on stage and show everyone what you have and each time it will get much easier. Liking what you are singing helps much more too. If there is more than you performing, remind yourself that you are a small part of what they are going to hear and you want them to remember you.

i've been through the same thing that your going through. some tips would be to make sure that you breath and then just don't think about the people. sing infront of a group of friends so that you get used to a small crowed then move on to a bigger group untill you can sing infront of all groups of all sizes. the most important thing is not to tense up because when you do it gets worse. remember to breath and relax and the rest will go on its own! :)

I've been performing in front of audiences for many years. I've heard that when speaking or singing directly to an audience, try to imagine that they're all naked. In a drama, try to react as your character would. It's OK to be nervous, just try not to let it show.
Blessings to you.

Your nervousness comes from your lack of confidence. If you can truly sing, you've got to relax and just let go. Let the world hear the gift that God has given you!

The only way to help is to do it more often. Find more reasons to perform in public. I would suggest performance competitions. They travel from state to state year round. Enter as many as you can. The more you perform, the easier it will become. Audition for everything!

well i think that you should just think of this:

ok well all the people would either like you or hate you but they wont kill you... the worst that could happen is someone liking you! then you get used to it half way through a song and pik up ur confidence.. just rememba if you DO sound bad because of ur neversness just think.. you will move on in life and leave it behind!! it doesnt matter wat ppl think of you just realize once its over.. its over and life either goes in one direction or the other but dont let it get you down ... so if you think while signing " who cares what they think" then yud most likely do well and everyone would liek you!!

oh btw, they'll clap either way! hehe

Before you go on, close your eyes, several deep breathing exercises, stand tall, relax, always sing to the back of the room, professional trick....imagine the audience is naked..and sing, sing sing....and enjoy it.....
