The SS tax is a flat 6.2% of your pay. The maximum taxable wage for SS taxes is $94,000. So, the maximum SS tax is $5,828.00

If your employer withheld any amount other than 6.2% for SS taxes or if your total pay was more than $94,000 and your employer withheld more than $5,828.00 you have to get a refund from your employer.

If you had wages form 2 or more employers that totaled more than $94,000.00, you get a credit on your tax return for any SS taxes above the $5828.00 maximum tax.
