depends in which country in biblical times. In Israel they had a nice tipple from Mount Carmel (translation 'vineyard of God') while Judah had some nice vineyards to the West of Jerusalem (and still has today in both places)

almost wild grapes of the region. most wine was watered down and used only to disinfect the water rather than drinking straight. Only during revelry and celebration of the wealthy was wine consumed without dilution. (red wines..as there were no whites or dark purples like thompson or concord available.)

Red wine that is for sure as the red grape varities were presnt in abundance...!
