If it's the teeth where the braces themselves are moving them then you can't really do anything. Take a couple of Motrin and eat some ice cream. You get used to it with time...your perfect smile will be worth it in the end but it really sucks now. I went through braces twice. Wear your retainers when your done with your braces so you don't have to be a repeat patient.

We always advise ortho patients to take Advil or Motrin for the pain base the dose on your age and weight. It sounds like you just got yours. Try to eat soft cold things like ice cream, smoothies, yogurt, Popsicles, and more ice cream. The colder things tend to numb and help ease the pain, the medication helps reduce the inflammation that the braces are causing. This is all new stuff in your mouth and it takes a little time for your mouth to adjust. Try to keep some vaseline on your lips as well, they tend to dry and crack easily with ortho. Don't do any chewing for a few days, then slowly add those foods back into your diet. Take care and cut your food into bite size pieces or smaller. A few days of smoothies and ice cream won't hurt you, and it really does help. Try not to push your lips against your teeth, this will cause lip ulcers that are really painful. Use the wax if you feel any wires sticking your cheek or lip tissue. After your mouth gets used to all the hardware you won't need the wax and your tissue will get adjusted it just takes time. I tell all the ortho patients that Advil or Motrin will become a necessity during their time with braces, so stock up and just take it easy these first few days, it does get better. When you have your adjustments every month just be prepared with the Motrin or Advil and have the Popsicles handy. Keep in mind, this will all be over soon and you'll have a fantastic smile to show from it! I hope I was of some help to you, and good luck!

Well, Pain in braces are usually taking place only the first week , because the periodontial Ligaments surrounding the root of the tooth is not yet adapted to braces, just wait and every thing will be ok, for the time-being use a Tylenol tablet to relief the pain. and Every thing surely will be just perfect !!

You will be fine in 2-3 days.... :-)

Get rid of the braces!! Just kidding. I had to wear braces as an adult and my orthodontist said adults were his worst patients. Take some tylenol and wax your braces up good so they don't rub the inside of your mouth. Good luck. It will be worth it in the end. Oh yeah, wear your retainer so you won't have to go through it again.

Sorry, but you really can't. Take Tylenol for the pain and it will go away soon. Every time you get an adjustment on your braces it is going to hurt. They change the wires to stronger ones. It will get better. Also use wax on any brackets that may be rubbing your cheeks or tongue. Good luck and hang in there!

You can't get rid of the pain, it s part of your life now. You have to get used to it, orelse you will end up having a toothache. AM i making sense here or is the jibrish? Simply add a Panadol to your everyday meal. Take twice every 4 hrs, it's not lebleboo!

A glass of warm saltwater will help a lot. Swish it around in your mouth and then, spit.
