When I called my vet, and talked to him about it, he told me to try Hydrocortisone Spray with Aloe Vera. Before I use it though, I just wanted to know if anyone else, has used it on their dogs. Did it sting them when you put it on, or where they ok with it? Did it help them, or make it worse?

From what I read, this could most likely be an allergic reaction some kind... check with your vet. Is he on meds?

Your vet must be unique as most vets would not normally prescribe sight unseen and over the phone, especially OTC products.
What you describe as a rash could be something very different when seen by vet. Is there a odor with the "rash" and any oozing from the "rash" Is he scratching at ears or shaking his head? I am wondering if what you are seeing as a rash is a bad yeast infection, inflammed and nasty, crusty in areas??

Yeast infections are common in long eared dogs. Water/moisture inside the ear sets up a yeast infection which can get out of hand real quick. I am familiar with the suggested spray but not for any ear problems! That is used mainly for skin irritations on the body. It would not treat most inside the ear problems seen in dogs.

I would encourage you to take the pup in for a check of ears. Certain ear problems can become chronic and become hard to treat.

the vet didnt' want to see your pup? ODD! It could also be ear mites but who knows without looking at it! I suppose the aloe and hydrocotisone would eventually get rid of mites but there are other ways I'm sure...I would take a cotton ball and clean with peroxide then spry a little hydro-c on several times a day...the ears should not be moist for long since the next thing you'll need is to get rid of 2 ear infections! The vet should look at the dog

You take the dog outside on a leash right after he eats, right after he wakes up, right after he plays, and right before bed. Those are the most likely times he will need to do his thing. Are you aware that a pup can "hold it" a MAXIMUM of one hour for every month of his age? It is not fair to expect more. And get this -- you NEVER punish a pup for going weewee or poop inside! It not only does not work as you think it should, it confuses him, and runs a huge risk of creating an aggresive adult! Why don't you go buy a book about dogs? There are some very good ones available, and they will not only answer current questions but be an excellent reference for the questions that always seem to pop up later.

We had the same problem with our puppy. The vet gave us a bottle of boric acid (diluted) to wipe on the ears. The rash went away immediately.

I don't know if it stings them or not but i'm sure its better for it to sting for a min. then it have rashing out the ears (literaly lol)
If it does sting... Treat your Dog for a day at the park or something. let him/her know that him/her was a good puppy!

This could possibly be Ear Mites. Ear mites are tiny infectious organisms resembling microscopic ticks. Check out the website at www.veterinarypartner.com.

my dog had ear mites once ahd she hated the drops we had to use, but alcohol and peroxide sting me and i still put them onmy cuts, it is about what is best sting or no you need to treat this. try giving her a treat afterwards to show her it was not a punishment and that you love her, just don't spray and walk away

My dogs don't like anything put in their ears, but the medicine does help sooth the itchiness. Initially, he's likely to try and roll and try to get the stuff out of his ears. Try to distract him as much as you can until he forgets what just happened to him.

It is probably just an alergic reaction or poison ivy or somthing like that. Just let it go for a few days and if it doesn't get any beter then take it to see a doctor.
