1. "if we're wrong, we have nothing to lose but if you're wrong, you burn in hell"

Note: This is nothing but fear. I heard this sooo many times.

You have to understand that us Atheist are sure about it. We believe in ourselves enough to take the Atheist position.

We're not weak minded people who can be intimidated into believing in fairy tales

Actually, our belief in God IS fear based. But not fear as in "scared," fear as in "respect for" and "consideration for." Look the definition up in Webster's dictionary! It means more than just "scared"!

I don't think the way you stated, and neither does a true Christian. I am sure this is the time, because all prophesies have been fulfilled, Jesus could come back at any time.
Some prophesies that been fulfilled, for example, are that Israel has become a Nation again, and the desert is blooming. Knowledge has increased, people are running "to and fro", it says in revelation that "the whole world will see." That wouldn't have been possible without the existence of satellites, for example.
That is just a few I can think of without opening my bible. In 2000 years, this is the first generation that meets these and many other conditions. I don't think "if I'm wrong," I know I'm right, because I believe the word of God.

God doesn't expect you to believe fairy tales, that would be dishonest. But he does expect you to believe he is a God of power and that is why we are all here. If you truly don't want to believe in fairy tales then investigate the problems with evolution.

I think you can have a believe system that has fears but it is not fear based. You can drive your car around knowing that if you do certain things you could seriously hurt yourself and others while enjoying the ride. I admit I even have to remind myself that Christianity isn't a rules based religion but a relationship that is challenging at times but it is not with a condemning God.

It is not fear. It is a plea for you to at least show some faith and try it because you have nothing to lose. I do not mean to offend, but it seems to me that those who are unwilling to have pray to God AND hae faith are the ones afraid to be proved wrong. Just as a scientist does not recant their discovery if it is based on first hand evidence, I cannot recant what I have felt and seen in my life, not because I am scared, but because I know it is true.

I don't understand why that would bother an athiest.I have concrete proof that GOD not only exists,But that he is EXACTLY who he says he is.Go someplace where you are totally alone.ask GOD, in your own words,to save your soul and forgive you of your sins.He will do it every time, and in EVERY case. Then you will know,as I do...That hell is a real place.Fear really has nothing to do with it....It is a No risk situation, therefore a logical and intelligent decision.

Agreed, I’ve always thought that belief based on fear only adds cowardice to your resume, so instead of just being eternally punished for being stupid, now you have a second crime to pay for. Nothing makes Atheism more appealing than being around believers.

True. One would think that Christians would use better things than the threat of Hell to try to persuade people. Unfortunately the seem to feel that the threat works for them so it ought to bring us "lost" to our knees.

When all it does is make me want to laugh in their faces. Here's why: I don't believe that your God exists, so why should I be afraid of some place that he supposedly created? Hint: If God doesn't exist, neither does Hell. Ergo, I am not frightened in the least.

I follow Jesus and my belief is love based. I really do not lose anything by loving others and honoring God. The Bible says over 500 times "Fear not" or "Do not be afraid".

God is God no matter what you think of Him.He is not intimidated by you either and your human opinions about His divinity. He gave you a free will, use it wisely.

If you cant come to Him out of love, you can still come out of fear. It's obvious that those who do not believe, do not have love for God.

When we were children, our parents would tell us to do something... if we did it, we would be rewarded, if not, we would be punished. We could do it out of love and accept the reward, or we could do it because we feared the punishment... either way, we did what we should and were rewarded.

if you obey ma's laws, you will enjoy freedom... if you do not, you will be punished.. does it matter for what reason you obey the law? No, just as long as you do.
