The word of God is Jesus. This comes in two forms: written and oral. (2 Thessalonians 2:15) The Bible and tradition. How is it that the Bible is used as the ony source of truth? Jesus set up a Church on Peter where the word of God is found. (Matthew 16:18-19, 1 Timothy 3:15)
How many agree?

The Bible is the written word of God and so is the oral tradition of the Catholic Church. There is no contradiction between the Church and the Bible. The Church gave the world the Bible.

John 14:26 was for the Church and the apostles. Only the Church has the apostolic authority to be infallible.

Not all Christians are guilty of Sola Scripture. We Catholics go by the word and Sacred Tradition. Sacred Tradition gave us worship on Sundays instead of Saturdays (prior to that the early Christians were Jews who followed Jesus and so worshipped in the synagogue and then in the homes for the breaking of the Bread). Scripture itself is Tradition -- it was the Catholic Church that determined which books made it into the New Testament. It was a process that evolved over time because the books of the New Testament were all written over time.
These didn't:
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas [Greek Text A]
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas [Greek Text B]
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas [Latin Text]
A 5th Century Compilation of the Thomas Texts
An Arabic Infancy Gospel
The Gospel of James
The Gospel of the Nativity of Mary
The Gospel of Mary [Magdalene]
The Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew
The Gospel of Nicodemus [Acts of Pilate]
The Gospel of Bartholomew
The Gospel of Peter
The Gospel of Thomas
The Gospel of Philip
The Gospel of the Lord [by Marcion]
These did not make it into the Old Testament:
The First Book of Adam and Eve
The Second Book of Adam and Eve
The Book of the Secrets of Enoch
The Psalms of Solomon
The Odes of Solomon
The Letter of Aristeas
Fourth Book of Maccabees
The Story of Ahikar
The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs
Testament of Reuben
Testament of Simeon
Testament of Levi
The Testament of Judah
The Testament of Issachar
The Testament of Zebulun
The Testament of Dan
The Testament of Naphtali
The Testament Of Gad
The Testament of Asher
The Testament of Joseph
The Testament of Benjamin

I believe that God has given at least part of his truth to all people. Just as the law of Moses was to prepare the Hebrew people for Chrise, each person or group receives the portion of truth they are ready for. I believe that God has revealed his true Gospel to more people than just the Jews, however. I believe that God revealed his word to the people of America at the same time the Bible was being written. Ez 37: 15-17 talks about this second record coming forth as it has.

I am a Christian because I believe in Christ, not the Bible. that little black book has been altered I don't know how many times ! what do I care what ancient men were thinking some interpretation might have meant back then!
bible thumping has never been my cause to live and never will be!
when you look at how he lived it was an inspiration,LOVE, RESPECT, COMPASSION, TOLERANCE, PEACE , KINDNESS , HUMBLENESS .
the bible became a weapon held in the air by every idiot when shouting death sentences and instilling fear! I don't think that is the word of God!

You have your free will. I use my free will to believe that the Bible is true. I have a personal relationship with God. I am placing my faith in Christ. The Bible is very reliable book. It is God's life manual for us. It is inspired by God and written by humans. It tells that Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, and no one will enter to the Father's house except through Him.

I think you have a point. I believe the Bible is straight from God for us. But we can learn about Him through many other experiences in this World.
John 14:26
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The Gospel of John Chapter 1. The Word was made flesh and dwelled among us. The Word is LIVING. It is Jesus. Jesus is alive. So His Word, Jesus is alive in us.

I am a Christian and I do not believe the word is only in the Bible but that the bible is the word of God. Christ himself was the word and was in agreement with the scriptures that were from God. The word of God will not disagree with his scripture but it is not simply the scripture itself.

Christians believe the Bible is the word of God because they are followers of Christ ....and that's what He believed.
John 17:17
If we do not agree with Jesus' point of view, that's fine, but we cannot call ourselves christian.

Even if Jesus set His Church up on Peter, Peter did not teach anything Christ did not. Much of the Catholic teachings are not of Christ.
