It's just like human beings. People who tan in the sun are more energetic than people who go to tanning salons/tanning beds.

It's like a plant thriving under the sunlight and growing fast rather than a plant being watched by a 40 watt light bulb and growing insignificantly.

The natural light, aka Sun, gives the plant more energy it needs to grow because all plants take the natural sunlight and convert them into energy, in a process called photosynthesis. There is something in the sunlight that artificial light does not have, and that is ultraviolet.

plants grow better in natural light. Natural sunlight produces light of all wavelengths, while artificial light is usually limited to a small range of wavelengths. Plants do better with full spectrum light.

We have not quite gotten artifical light perfected. The sun is perfect for plants because plants have been on this earth for a zillion years and they have adjusted their requirements to meet what the sun provides. Give us time, we will get the spectrum adjusted correctly.
