He has 6 toes on each of his back paws... other than that he seems happy and healthy, and when should I have something done about this?? I have tried and tried to find any info online but I keep getting lost...please help me with any info you may have... My hubby seems to think that it was cause by inbreeding ??? is that true???

A good breeder would have removed these when the pup was 3-5 days old.

No, each puppy is born with dew claws, and the number varies. up to two on each foot. I suggest getting them all removed because they could get torn off if they are loose, and that would cause a lot of pain in your puppy

Just genetics. A website I saw on the breed says you should get the rear dew claws removed. See what your vet says, if you plan on getting him neutered, ask that you can get the dewclaws removed at the same time so he doesn't have to be under anesthesia twice.

it's thought to be caused by inbreeding, but it's more of a characteristic of certain lines. great pyranese dogs have this naturally in almost every one of them. talk to your vet, usually these are removed when the pup is spayed or neutered.
