try this, hit flea markets for old hand mirrors, as ornate as you can find, and hang on walls either around your pictures, or in groups above bed. to tie everything together paint and gild the picture frames and mirrors so they blend together.
or find some pretty fabric in an eastern pattern and drape behind your pictures, or make a border out of the fabric for around each picture. you can do many things for under 50.00 if you let your imagination run free. try to think of non traditional uses for items you already have. with paint and fabric you can use everyday items you have and transform them into amazing accents for your home. an old birdcage painted to match your decor can be used as a plant hanger, a shelf for figurines or just storage.

Buy some canvas board at a craft store, they come in many sizes, they are thin and light. Leave them white, paint on them in black paint some of the Middle East language/letters. Line them up vertically or horizontally. You can tack them to the walls with or without frames, as many or as few as you want. Check Google for Middle East decorating, I'm sure you'll find some good sites.

I've seen people frame scarves or fabrics with interesting color, pattern, or texture. For a Middle Eastern theme you should be able to find something at cost plus world market, target, or even a fabric store.

Why not try adding a few shelves at different levels, here and there, and put some of your nice thing on there to display. If you have any brass pieces they would look great. You can find knick knack stuff at any thrift store or even Goodwill stores, and it is very inexpensive. You can also drape your themed "sheer"fabric around your room, and even a long piece of gold toned chain adds alot of interest..draped at different levels.
Good Luck!!

The pictures don't matter as much as the frame. Try repainting the frames with a faux hammered bronze and hit a couple of side tables to just to keep it balanced. Good Luck!

How about putting pictures of your family and friends in frames and hanging them or placing them on thin shelves. You can also have them printed in Black and white which gives a nice effect.
