Windows: generic; considered to be inferior but still popular because the relatively good OS for a low-cost PC.

Mac OS 9 and less: f**ked up total crap, I need whole ten fingers to count how many times it crashes in one day.

Mac OS X: inherits the user-friendliness of older Mac OS but with UNIX core.

UNIX: strong only as a server, its UI is too user-unfriendly, but as a networked terminal server it had adequate UI.

Linux: inherits the strength and weakness of a UNIX but being improved on all Windows and Mac front because large programmer base.

Mainframe runs differently, it had very different roles.
