i have the best answer, so read.
first, proper form. NEVER cross your arms when you run. keep them going forward and back. keep your arms at a 90 degree angle, relaxed as possible. relax your entire body. starting with both hands hip level, bring your right arm to your chest height when you lift up your right leg, and vice versa.
don't stomp your feet when you decide to sprint-- it won't make you faster. before you reach forward with your leg (don't reach too far), bend it as if to kick the bottom of your backside.
next, drink lots of water throughout the day (so what if you have to go to the bathroom.) right before the run you can consider drinking some gatorade or vitamin water. warm up before you run. practice your armswing a little.
finally, what time do you want to aim for? don't start fast. pick a goal time (reasonable, maybe you just wanna pass?) and find out how many laps is a mile. divide your goal time by the lap and you get your "split." try to aim for those times each lap. when you can see the finish line, sprint (again don't stomp you foot-- instead, bring your thighs up so they're parallel to the floor. remember to bend your knees before striding. when you land your knees shouldn't be straight.)
good luck on your test, and answer my very pointless question i have up.

Make very, very sure you have the right shoes !! And... extra heavy duty socks !! This is a must ! Then pace yourself so you won't tire. By this, I mean start out rather slowly... speed up a little when you are feeling it... slow down , speed up. And don't let your arms flap at your side. Hold them up and let them swing gently and naturally rather close to your body. Don't look down... look ahead. Don't THINK about running. Think about that special person in your life... and also know this, running daily will give you a beautifully toned body. So... if there is not a special person in your life... there certainly will be if you have a healthy, buff body.

first, warm up well beforehand - jogging or easy walking. if you can do some gentle stretching after a 5-10 minute walk you'll be ready.
don't go out too fast at the start of your mile. try to run at a pace that feels strong but not hard for the first lap. then try to hold that pace for another lap. after that you're half way there and can push the intensity A LITTLE if you feel good. if you feel just comfortable (or if you feel bad), hold the pace and grit it out.
most importantly, don't feel pressured to run a certain time or with a certain group. do what feels right for you.

Put one foot directly in line with the other and it will equal less distance... Try this below
Two two objects it does not matter what, and put a starting point. Start there and take normal steps about 7-10 and put the other object at the end of your shoe (the front of your shoe)... Now go back to the start and do it again but this time when your taking your normal steps try to put your foot down directly in front of your other foot (still taking your normal stride length. If this makes sense you will notice that with the same amount of steps you can cover more ground. Think of how many less steps this could equal in a mile!!!
