I've had a miserable sinus headache, and took some Tylenol Sinus with 10mg of phenylephrine. Since phenylephrine is never effective for me, is it okay if I also take 60mg pseudoephedrine, or is there some kind of bad drug interaction?

The only interaction would be an increase in BP or possibly in heart rate. If you are worried about the, I would suggest using Afrin Nasal Spray for 3 days then discontinuing it. I also would suggest leaving off the Tylenol Sinus and sticking with Pseudoephredrine in the future. If you begin to run fever over 100.5 degrees F then I would suggest that you may have an infection that may need antibiotics if it does not rapidly return to normal

Not interactions so much as added effects (I'm speaking of the unwanted ones, of course). When taken by mouth, phenylephrine is a very poor decongestant. It works on the nose basically if you put it in the nose, Pseudoephedrine isn't exactly great, either. Get plain acetaminophen for your headaches and such, and if you have the urge to use phenylephrine get it in nasal drop or spray form. It's really a false economy to buy those multi-symptom remedies. Better to take the drugs you need when and how you need, and avoid the others.

You can take both, but wait a few hours, or it might knock you out! ... I have the same problem and I always end up having to take sudafed! No drug interactions that I know of!
