Does anyone know the any resources to the proper help to stop taking Klonopin?

Does anyone have any ideas do wean off of 4mg a day taken for reasons that are unclear?

Doctors seem to really be uncertain in this area and don't understand the problems they cause by putting their patients on these kinds of drugs for long term, and as time goes on they say "if it helps, keep taking," it "if it doesn't, then stop."

i had to take kolonopin along with trazodone for anxiety and a sleep disorder and my doctor told me to just every 2 weeks go either 1mg or 1/2mg less on the kolonopin and 25mg less on the trazodone. if that feels ok then just keep going every 2 weeks. it took me longer than the lessen every 2 weeks idea, but did go well all together.had been taking the trazodone for almost 2 years and the kolonopin for almost 3 and within 2 months i was off the kolonopin and i think it took almost 3 for trazodone.

Klonopin is a form of benzodiazepine and when taken regularly to the point where the body becomes dependent on the medication, makes it hard to "wean" off of it. That being said, it is very dangerous to "self wean" from a drug from this class as seizures, psychosis and death may result from a medically unsupervised withdrawl. If the meds are prescribed and your Dr. refuses to assist you with weaning (sometimes you'll get another medicaton to aid with withdral symptoms) find another one that will help you do it safely. If the pills are street drugs or illicit, then I suggest you go to the ER or check into a detox and get safely detoxed there.

According to the PDR you need to wean yourself off of it over a 7 week period - the risks include seizures, psychosis, and death in the case of cold turkey withdrawal the pills come scored so you could go down to 3.5 per day for a week, the 3 per day for a week, then 2.5... you get the idea.
Why were you given it (sometimes migraines, seizures, or other) are you sure you want to stop?

you are aboslutely right you need to get away from them i use to take both medicines and start by taking 1 every other day for about 10 days then cut down to one half for a week or so then you should be able to stay off them they cushion your emotions and finally makes them nearly numb dont try to just quit all at once

don't just drop it i've been there and it caused seizures. i would taper down like a half for like a week and then take half everyother day for a week and then every 3 days for a week then drop it. it would also help alot if you took NERVEFACTORS from the healthfood store as youre tapering off. they're like 15:00 but they really help and you can just drop them when your ready.
