I lost my bid for a set on Chapter (the governing body of the church) this morning. Is it because I am too young? I'm 24, but, as I pointed out in my speech before the election, I am deeply involved in several ministries and I have already had a role in other governing committees at this parish. The person who got the position is middle-aged but very new to the parish, and i personally had never heard of her before.
Was this decision based on my youth? Was there something I could have said or done differently? I'm really upset by this.

It is quite possible that your spiritual gifts are in another area of the church rather than the one that you pursued.
I am sorry that you are upset. It is not nice to be rejected. But try to remember that it was maybe your will, but not God's at this particular event and time.

It might be your youth, but we have someone on our Vestry that is a senior in high school. Maybe my church is more open to the fact that younger people have a lot to contribute. Also, the new person may have connections that you don't even know about. Too, the older folks may have thought you weren't capable. Try not to be too upset and continue to be involved.

I know that this is easier said than done, but try to see God's will and timing. He may have other things for you now and church office later when you are older. His plan is what counts; we have to be willing to follow it. Please pray that God will help you see His will and timing.
